Frequently Asked Questions
How did the 2023 wildfire impact the single and tandem sites?
While the 2023 Parkland County wildfire impacted Entwistle RV Campground, our dedicated team has been hard at work to mitigate any challenges and prioritize the safety and comfort of our guests. We're excited to announce that nearly all of our sites, with just six exceptions, will be open in time for the May Long Weekend! Transparency is key to us, and we want to ensure your stay meets your expectations. It's important to note that the majority of trees in the single sites had to be removed for safety reasons and we're in the process of rebuilding the pit toilet and woodshed. While about 11 hectares of burned trees still stand, our commitment to providing a memorable camping experience remains unwavering.
How did the 2023 wildfire impact the group sites?
The wildfire fortunately spared the group sites at Entwistle RV Campground, along with several key amenities. The office, flush toilets, picnic shelter, recreation area, and approximately 1km of walking trails remained untouched by the blaze.
Can I access the river?
While parts of the public land granting access to the Pembina River were impacted by the wildfire, we encourage you to embrace adventure with caution. Take part in activities outside of Entwistle RV Campground property at your own risk.
What are the reclamation plans for the future?
As always, staff at Entwistle RV Campground remain dedicated to continuously monitoring the condition of every corner of the campground. Unsafe trees have been promptly removed, and our team remains vigilant in assessing and addressing any potential hazards posed by dead standing trees. Environmental impacts from the fire are top of mind as we closely observe soil erosion, ecological recovery, and changes in wildlife habitat. While the future is unpredictable, we are heartened to see signs of natures resilience with local pioneer species sprouting and plenty of deer and moose tracks spotted!
